This Privacy Policy describes how SingleHunt, Inc. (“SingleHunt,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our mobile applications, websites, and the Crosspath™ dating experience (the “Service”).
Dating is personal. We’ve tried to write this policy in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us at developer@singlehunt.com.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account data: phone number, date of birth, gender identity, sexual orientation, and any optional profile fields you choose to share (e.g., height, occupation, prompts).
- Profile content: photos, videos, voice clips, biographies, and answers you submit to profile prompts. Each profile photo you upload is checked automatically for explicit or harmful content before it is kept (see sections 2 and 4).
- Verification data: for the ID and liveness check, a photo of your government ID (a driver’s license, passport or ID card) and a short selfie video, which you give to our identity verification provider, Didit. From the check we keep its result, the date of birth on your ID (which then sets the age on your profile), the type of document and the country or state that issued it, and Didit’s check results. We do not keep the images of your ID, your selfie video, or the name, number or address on your ID.
- Your agreement to texts: when you tick the box at sign-in that agrees to our texts and to our Terms and this policy, we record your account id, the phone number you agreed for, when you agreed, the wording you agreed to, whether it was in the app or on the web, and the IP address it came from. If you reply STOP to our texts, we record that and stop texting you; if you reply START, we record that too and may text you again.
- Communications: messages, reactions, and reports you send through the Service or to our support team, including support tickets you submit in the app.
- Payments: when you pay for a first date or a drink, Apple Pay or the card sheet sends your card details straight to our payment processor, Stripe. SingleHunt never sees or stores your card number. We keep a record of each payment and card hold (the amount, its status, and Stripe’s payment id) and of your date-credits: each one gained or used, and why.
Information collected automatically
- Location data: with your permission, we collect precise (GPS-level) and approximate location to power the Crosspath™ feature to show you nearby members. You can change permissions at any time in your device settings.
- Location during a first date: during a first date’s check-in window (from 30 minutes before its start to 90 minutes after it), while the app is open, it sends your position about every 15 seconds, wherever you are at that moment. We record every position it sends, to tell who came to the spot and whether the two of you met (see section 3).
- Device & usage data: device model, operating system, app version, IP address, language, time zone, crash logs, and interactions within the app.
- Cookies & similar technologies: on our websites we use cookies and local storage for sign-in, preferences, security, and analytics.
Information from third parties
- Twilio, our SMS provider, which delivers your one-time sign-in codes, service texts about drinks and first dates you arrange (for example, that a drink is set and where to meet), and occasional offers from SingleHunt.
- Didit, our identity verification provider, which tells us the result of your ID check (see “Verification data” above).
- Stripe, our payment processor, which tells us whether a payment or a card hold went through.
- OpenAI, which tells us whether a profile photo you upload is sexually explicit, graphically violent, or shows self-harm.
- Service providers who support analytics, hosting, fraud prevention, and customer support.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide the Service, including matching, messaging, and the Crosspath™ feature;
- Verify identity, prevent fraud, abuse, harassment, and unsafe behavior;
- Check each profile photo you upload, automatically, for sexually explicit, graphically violent, or self-harm content: such a photo is refused when you upload it, or removed if it is found later, and a borderline photo may be looked at by our team;
- Personalize discovery and improve recommendations;
- Send transactional notifications and important account alerts;
- Conduct analytics, troubleshooting, security monitoring, and product research;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your messages to train third-party AI models.
3. Location & the Crosspath™ Feature
Crosspath™ is the heart of SingleHunt. With your explicit permission, the app records your device’s precise location while you use it, and we compare where you have been with other consenting members’ locations so we can show you real-world overlaps. To find overlaps we use hexagonal map cells about 200 meters across. Other members never see your GPS position: a crosspath shows them only the neighborhood where you crossed paths, and a check-in shows the place you checked in at.
We keep your location history (the positions the app recorded and your check-ins) for as long as your account is active, and delete it when you delete your account. You can stop the app from recording your location at any time by turning off location for SingleHunt in your device settings.
Your location during a first date
During a first date’s check-in window we record every position the app sends, with its time and accuracy, wherever you are at that moment (not only at the spot). We use them to tell whether you came to the spot and whether the two of you met, which decides when your chat opens and what happens to the fee for the first date (see section 8 of our Terms of Service). The other member never sees your positions or how far away you are. Only our servers read them, and our team may look at them when you submit a support ticket about that date. We delete these positions two years after the first date, and at once if you delete your account.
4. How We Share Information
- With other members: the profile information you choose to display, plus presence indicators consistent with your privacy settings.
- With service providers: we share information only with the providers that run parts of the Service for us, and only what each one needs: our hosting provider stores your data; Twilio, our SMS provider, receives your phone number and the text of each message to deliver your sign-in codes, service texts about your drinks and first dates, and occasional offers from SingleHunt; Didit, our identity verification provider, receives the ID document and selfie video you give it in the ID check and runs the check; OpenAI receives each profile photo you upload (the photo only, not your name or other profile details) to check it for explicit or harmful content; and Stripe, our payment processor, handles payments for first dates (it receives your card from Apple Pay or the card sheet directly, plus the amount and your SingleHunt account id). Stripe handles payment data under its own privacy policy.
- For safety & legal reasons: when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
- In a corporate transaction: if SingleHunt is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, we may transfer your information as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
5. Your Choices & Rights
You can:
- Edit or delete profile content at any time in the app;
- Revoke location, camera, microphone, or photo library permissions in your device settings;
- Request a copy, correction, or deletion of your personal data by emailing developer@singlehunt.com;
- Delete your account in the app (Profile › Account Options › Delete account), or ask us to delete it without the app. See Delete your account for the steps and for what is deleted and what is kept.
Depending on where you live (e.g., California, the EU/UK, Brazil), you may have additional rights such as the right to object to processing, restrict processing, port your data, or lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We honor verifiable requests as required by applicable law.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and enforce our Terms. Your location history is kept for two years at most, and deleted with your account (see section 3). Some data has its own period:
- Positions recorded during a first date: two years after the date, then deleted (at once if you delete your account).
- The IP address a photo was uploaded from: 30 days, then deleted (at once if you delete the photo or your account), unless the photo must be preserved for legal reasons (below).
- Payment records (the amount, its status and Stripe’s payment id): kept as long as we need them for accounting, tax, fraud prevention and disputes, also after you delete your account (without your name).
- The record of your agreement to texts (your account id, the phone number it covered, when, the wording, app or web, the IP address, and your STOP and START replies, without your name): kept while your account exists and for 2 years after you delete your account, as proof of your consent if a complaint or claim about our texts is made, then deleted.
- Date-credit records: deleted with your account. Unused date-credits are lost when you delete your account.
- Reports about a member: kept for two years after that member deletes their account, to keep members safe and for legal reasons, then deleted.
- Support tickets: kept while they are open and for two years after they are resolved, then deleted.
- Usage data (how you use the app, the location pings the app sends, your check-ins, your “Place not in list” searches, your ID-check events, and our records of what each service did): two years, then deleted.
- Content we must preserve for legal reasons (for example, suspected child sexual abuse material reported to the authorities, and the account details that go with it): kept as the law requires, also after you delete it or your account, then deleted.
After deletion, residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for a limited time before being purged.
7. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures (including encryption in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive fields, access controls, and audit logging) to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique device passcode and to report security concerns to developer@singlehunt.com.
8. Children
The Service is intended for users 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it. Our Child Safety Standards say how we deal with child sexual abuse and exploitation and how to report it.
9. International Transfers
SingleHunt is headquartered in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for these transfers.
10. Third-Party Services
Our Service may link to or integrate with third-party services (for example, your device’s app store or a sign-in provider). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, which we encourage you to read.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in-app or by email at least seven (7) days before the changes take effect.
